On a knoll in mid-town Sacramento, two prominent, gleaming white buildings make up the Vizcaya Pavilion and Mansion. These venues are icons, beckoning brides to envision their perfect wedding day in such a pretty location. There are several spaces within this property, which we will provide the high points:
The Mansion, circa 1899 in Queen Anne architecture, is on the California Historical Landmark Registry. The lovely overnight suites have vintage furnishings, gilded mirrors and original stain glass, and most rooms have soaking tubs. Preparing and dressing for one’s wedding in these charming rooms, so close to the Garden Courtyard, is very convenient. Additionally, there are 3 more rooms in the Carriage House. And to top it off, guests receive a fresh breakfast with their overnight stay.
The Mansion Parlor is an elongated room with beautiful polished dark wood flooring. Also, there is a lovely bay window and fireplace, perfect for an intimate ceremony or dinner of about 50 guests. Beautiful photo ops are just steps away in the lush gardens or along the wraparound veranda of the mansion.
Outdoor wedding ceremonies or social gatherings may be held at the large open Garden Courtyard. It has a traditional European gazebo as a focal point of interest. In spring and summer the flowering blooms are magnificent!
A secondary patio is positioned to the side of the Courtyard. This is great for a cocktail space or even a smaller ceremony area. Rose trees, walls of ivy and vines, azaleas and camellias surround the patios.
Receptions are typically held in the exquisite Pavilion. The exterior is similar to old-world Greek with a huge shiny black three-tiered fountain in front that holds center court, while the interior is soft, light, dreamy and very romantic. It has floor to ceiling windows with sheer white curtains which can be pulled back to bring the garden inside. In addition, a unique stain glass back-lighted ceiling dome is a unique feature. There is a beautiful mirrored alcove framed by pillars for the display of a cake or dessert table.
Beautiful, conveniently located to downtown Sacramento, a photographer’s paradise, a gardener’s delight, but let’s not forget the innovative, delicious and visually appealing cuisine! A true full-service operation! Vizcaya is a gem in the wedding and event scene!
And be sure to check out their sister property Monte Verde Inn!
